What's new in XANALYS Link Explorer 6.0?

A major release containing many new and improved features, Link Explorer 6.0 lets you model and merge data from different sources, query your information to find interesting facts, and easily move data between different forms of visualisation and analysis: associational, temporal and spatial analysis of people, events, places etc.

New User Interface

	What's this? A new user interface (UI) design that has been specifically designed to group together common functions and support Link Explorer's workflow: query > visualise > analyse

The Workfile Panel

	What's this? Workfile management and other core intelligence analysis tasks are now held across 4 different tabs in this retractable panel. Each panel also displays the Mini-Chart preview window.

Mini-Chart Viewer

	What's this? The Mini-Chart provides you with an overview of the entire chart and lets you scroll around the main chart view with simple click and drag operations.

Chart Toolbar

	What's this? Each chart now has its own toolbar holding a range of navigation, layout and analysis functions, so that your most commonly used features are right at hand.

Chart Analysis Panel

	What's this? A retractable panel containing 3 different tabs, each providing a range of analytical tools that can be applied to the current chart.

Analytical Environment

	What's this? Analysts and Investigators often use a combination of Link Explorer with mapping and spreadsheet analyses. Link Explorer 6.0 provides data interfaces and integration enhancements with the two leading Microsoft Applications in these areas: Microsoft Bing Mapping and Microsoft Excel.

Microsoft Excel / Link Explorer Ribbon

	What's this? Send data from your chart to MS Excel where you can perform statistical and other forms of analysis on it. If you identify something of interest in Excel, send that subset back to Link Explorer, or to Bing Mapping for further analysis.

New Link Chart Layouts

	What's this? Four new link chart layouts provide clearer, more concise charts.

Chart Search

	What's this? An expanded search facility which allows you to quickly identify and select items on your active chart, based on the values of any of their attributes.

Network Analysis

	What's this? Network analysis covers a range of techniques that determine how objects are related to each other. These techniques help answer questions such as “who is the most active or influential person in my network?”

Filtering

	What's this? Apply filters to a chart to highlight objects that possess certain qualities, or that you have identified as important in an earlier stage of your analysis.

Constraint Capture

	What's this? Instantly capture a set of objects so they can be easily identified on future charts, or used to refine future queries and Explores.

New Chart "From Selected Objects"

	What's this? Instantly create a new chart from a selection of objects in your current working chart.

New Icon Sets

	What's this? For a chart to be effective, it must accurately convey as much information as possible. One way of doing this is to use icons closely matched to the objects they represent. Link Explorer 6.0 includes 100’s of new icons including expanded medical, financial, transport, person, and event sets.

Align and Distribute Charts

	What's this? Arrange icons on your charts quickly and neatly, just with a couple of mouse clicks.

Expand and Shrink Selected Objects

	What's this? The ability to increase or decrease the space between objects can now be restricted to a subset of objects on a chart.

Partial Layouts

	What's this? If you are unhappy with the layout of part of your chart, you can now get Link Explorer to apply a new layout, restricted to just that section of the chart.

Style Definitions

	What's this? Individual changes to styles can be automatically propagated to all charts

Auto-Generated Keys

	What's this? Create a chart key to clearly convey to your audience the meaning behind each icon type.

Chart Drawing Panel

	What's this? Quickly add new objects and links to your charts (and database).

Query Management

	What's this? Create a Folder hierarchy to store and manage your Queries and Charts. Select multiple queries so that you can move or delete them in a single operation.
