Course
Target Audience
This course has been developed for new UK users of XANALYS Link Explorer connected to the Police FIS Centurion databases used by Professional Standards. The course may also be useful to existing users of XANALYS Link Explorer in PSD’s who wish to refresh or extend their knowledge.
Course Content
The course of which there are two variants namely England/Wales and Scotland versions of Centurion includes the following areas:
- Introduction to concepts used (for example, Database, Object Class, Template, Query, Workfile)
- Connecting to FIS Centurion
- Creating and constraining queries
- Compound constraints
- Formatting charts and text
- Query by Example
- Analysis techniques
- Report extraction
Pre-requisites
The course has been developed for those who are already familiar with the FIS Centurion database and also Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7.
Duration
The course is scheduled to cover two days. It is classroom based, with practical activities throughout.
Objectives
The aim of the course is to provide a structured introduction to the main features of XANALYS Link Explorer in Professional Standards, helping you to feel more comfortable in using the program.
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Create queries, relevant to your investigation.
- Visualise and analyse the data held in the Centurion system.
- Display this data in the various available formats including link charts, timelines, reports and cluster charts.
- Customize charts/reports to emphasize particular areas of interest.
- Use various options for displaying and printing charts.
- Explore links and relationships
- Export selected data to Excel.
